"kele fleming might have the most original songwriting style in Vancouver"
About Songs from the Tinforest
i have no meaning but worry about the impact of the words.
if you write them down they are forever.
These words, from the poem "not an importance, but a curiosity", capture the sentiment running through much of kele fleming's writing. Her poems & songs are full of characters who reveal a world that is being altered by the march of progress, the march to arms, and the march to consume. Their hearts both struggle and bloom in this modern world. As an artist, kele feels compelled to record the ambiguities.
kele is a musician, performer and writer who lives in Vancouver, Canada. This fall she released a dual-media project (CD recording & printed book), titled "songs from the tinforest", that weaves together her poetry and music. kele is the leader of Vancouver folk-pop group, hazel motes.
This project features a supporting cast of musicians and artists and producer/engineer Dan Kronemann (Bud Osborne, "Hundred Block Rock"). Recorded at various locations around the Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast, the result is a 48-page book of poetry and companion 17-track CD that explores many sonic expressions of kele's written word
